Every Attendee should receive a simple step by step guid to getting a great headshot. Maybe a pamphlet or flyer or single computer paper sheet?
Why are the people here?
They are here to meet new people, make connections, and become better EAs by learning from top ones.
Learning how to do advanced things with Microsoft Word and even apply photoshop-like effects to photos.
How are they unique?
They are the top executive assistants and they know the crazy challenges of running things for a C level executive for a company. They even attend meetings on their behalf, analyze documents, have to know everything that the executive does, and yet of course then there’s the pay…
Logic and Reason:
Take a look at these two profiles. If you received a connect request, job inquiry, or were looking to recruit through LinkedIn, which profile would you choose? Including a profile image builds trust with your connections and helps people to find and identify you. Your photo is one of the first things people see when they find you on the site.
But we have to also think about the quality of the photo. You don’t want a dark, grainy image to be your first impression. More than that, you want to draw people in. We do this by focusing on expression. Take a look at these two shots. The image on the left works, but it isn’t interesting, it doesnt make you want to work with or get to know this person. But the shot on the right is engaging the eyes, we’ve captured a genuine smile, and (his/her) body position is open, (he/she) looks friendly, approachable, and confident. Once employers or collegues get a sense of you from your headshot, they will associate that approachability and confidence with your profile and business. You’re instantly more credible. Compared with a profile that has no image, you’re also showing that you are more dedicated and conscientious about your field.
It’s really about tailoring the shoot to each individual. We look at what you need for your company or industry. As the photographer, it’s my job to make sure all of the technical details are taken care of so we can get a range of expressions. Taking away a whole series of shots focusing on the approachable, confident, professional expression gives you the ability to choose a shot that shows who you are while also customizing the look to your career.
What objections would people have to getting a headshot?
Cost… time… camera shyness… don’t believe it’s necessary, it doesn’t make a difference…
Expensive, but it costs you more not to get a headshot because of lost business.
Time: It’s very short, packages take about 4-5 minutes per person and we can take the studio too your office for convenience.
Camera Shyness: People are camera shy, but I’ve worked with so many people and I always make you laugh and bring out real smiles. as long as you can look at the camera, you should be good.
It Doesn’t Make a Difference: It does, trust me. Take a look at these pictures and tell me who you’d rather work with? [no picture, unprofessional picture of a guy, picture of a guy with a bored or weird expression and bad lighting, picture of a guy with a friendly expression and good lighting] Everything is based on perception and connecting with your audience is the first power of influence, and a headshot does just that.
So many people take years to get ab headshot, but the happy responses I receive are great with thee difference it makes. Recently an article was out about the difference a professional headshot makes in finding work, or clients for companies. It just proves how happy these ex clients of mine were after they got their shot.
So I ask you, are you in or out? I really want to drive home the point to the people in the audience that no matter who you choose as a headshot photographer, you understand the importance of having one, and understand the difference that having the right expression can make.
