Tilting your head too far down in headshots will result in a creepy, weird look. you’ll either look like you’re hiding something, or you’ll look like you are the sneakiest person on Earth!
The trick to tilt is to find the right balance between your eyes looking too shadowy by tilting too far down, and tilting too far up to wear your jaw line looks wider than it really is.
I strongly recommend doing some shots of both so you can see the option, and then discussing with your photographer whichever you like best and why.
Be careful of another issue when tilting your chin down too far in a headshot. It’s why I like to call the million chin look! Make sure you’re doing what I call “The Turtle.” Push your face forward a bit to remove the double chin, this way you’ll look good even with your chin down.
And then make sure the photographer uses a bounce or reflector to fill in the shadows under your eyes.
