Chris Russell is a professional teacher and acting coach who was an absolute pleasure to chat with. He knows a ton about on-camera acting and specializes in coaching actors so their performance is flawless. This is a really fun interview and there are tons of nuggets of valuable info!
- Create your own content. If you're feeling stuck or pigeonholed, you can always create your own projects or shoot scenes for your reel so that casting directors start to see you playing other parts.
- Get your materials together and build your resume if you want an agent. Most other actors don't have great marketing materials. Although agents love nice resumes, having excellent marketing materials can help you get in the door more easily because they'll see that you've already taken care of a large part of the work.
- Take a wide range of classes - especially things you're not used to. When you start going to classes outside your comfort zone, not only will you network with people to start getting more opportunities, but you'll also expand your range and get used to stepping out of your comfort zone. This forces you into new and unfamiliar territory which helps you grow.
