Interviews With Casting Directors & Producers
Thanks for agreeing to do an interview with me!
My goal is to help actors get more bookings and move their careers forward (feel free to check out my "About" page), and in this interview we will be discussing your work as a casting director, filmmaker, or producer and what you've seen in the actors you've hired so other actors can learn from our discussion. Below are 6 possible interview questions to discuss (we might not do all of them, or we might do some different ones depending on what we talk about).

Below are 6 possible interview questions to discuss (we might not do all of them, or we might do some different ones depending on what we talk about).
- Background: Tell me a little bit about your work as a casting director, producer, or filmmaker. How did you get into the industry and what are 1-2 things you're most proud of?
- Tell me a little bit about some of the actors you enjoy bringing in on projects and why.
- Your Goals When Casting: What do you look for when casting actors and why?
- Tell me a bit more about each of these things and why they are important?
- Mistakes Actors Make: What are 1-2 of the biggest mistakes actors make from your perspective in trying to move their careers forward?
- Why do you think they make these mistakes, and how could they start to avoid them?
- Your Advice on Auditioning: What are two or three top tips you can give to an actor who struggles to get called back after auditioning?
- Your Advice on Creating Relationships & Networking: How do you recommend actors go about networking with casting directors or producers, and how should they keep in touch with you?
- Are there any things they definitely should NOT do?
- Your Top Suggestions: Out of everything you've seen working in the industry, what one or two things do you think are the most helpful in moving actors' careers forward?
- If you had to give some advice to an actor stuck at a plateau in their career, what would it be?
- Anything else you'd like to say?
Referrals: This question is not going to be included in the interview, but who are 2-3 other people you can think of that might be helpful for actors to hear from? I'm interested in speaking with acting teachers, casting directors, agents, managers, filmmakers, or very successful actors you might know.
