I remember I used to be part of a large networking group I went to every week at 7am to meet with 100 other business owners and professionals, where we’d network and pass around business cards.
I had no specific strategy… I was just like, “If you know someone who needs headshots, let me know!” And I felt like I barely made any money from it. At the time, I wasn't very targeted with my marketing and didn't really specialize in offering headshots for actors or business people - it was just a kind of wide mix.
After a lot of thinking, I decided it was for the best that I end my membership of over 2 years.
Well, I no longer have to wake up so early anymore and I’m now connecting with more people than ever. I don't want to knock the networking group I was a part of because everyone was fantastic, but I think that I just have more of a knack for online networking.
My new online strategy has been leading to a lot more business, and I have tested it with some actors and find it works extremely well. I call it:
