About Mark Meissner
The courtroom was silent as I stood to deliver my closing argument. The intensity, focus, adrenaline—it all reminded me of why I once dreamed of being on stage. As I looked at the jury, I realized that acting had been woven into my career all along. It was finally time to pursue the passion I'd left waiting in the wings for over 30 years.
My name is Mark Meissner, and after a fulfilling career as a prosecutor at the Manhattan DA’s office under Robert Morgenthau (whom the show Law and Order was based on), I transitioned to leading my own legal practice. I’ve always thrived on being the underestimated underdog, and it’s this persistence and tenacity that has driven me both in the courtroom and now on the stage. I most enjoy playing lawyers, detectives, mobsters, and professors—characters with depth and layers to unravel. Acting is more than just performance for me; it’s about revealing the deep stories and motivations behind every character. I bring a strong, commanding presence that stems from my years in the courtroom. My long-term goal is to continue challenging myself and to one day step onto the screen in a major film. |
Reviews
"I have worked with Mark Meissner as a coach and as a student in my film classes and found him to be talented, versatile, instinctual and dedicated to his craft. He has a knack for the comedic and can shift to the dramatic in the blink an eye. A joy to work with." - Stephen Singer, Professional Actor and Teacher of Film Acting at The Barrow Group |
"Mark Meissner is a brave actor who commits to anything he attempts. After a successful career as a NYC prosecutor and practicing lawyer, Mark brings that same passion and relentless desire to his work as a professional actor. He has great skill and range, from the fixer lawyer to the BBQ dad, coach to mobster. With talent to spare, he has quickly booked numerous lead film roles and easily gotten theatrical representation in the brief six months that we have worked together." - Annie Chadwick, Career Coach/Co-owner Up-To-Date Theatricals LLC |
"Working with Mark was smooth and easy! He took direction very well, and always brought interesting and fresh perspectives & ideas to his character and to the scene. He was able to believably play the role of a shady pawn shop owner with genuine nuances, and without creating a caricature. Would love to work with him again in the future!" - Zane Rizvi-Riemer, writer and director of "Debt I Owe" |
